At The Alternative Provision, we believe every young person deserves the chance to find their way—no matter where they’ve started.
What is The Alternative Provision?
At The Alternative Provision, we believe every young person deserves the chance to find their way—no matter where they’ve started. As an Alternative Education Provision, we focus on transforming behaviour, rebuilding confidence, and helping children and young people reconnect with their true north. In this work, we are supported by our valued partners, Options 180, and Every Contact Counts, who share our commitment to brighter futures.
Many of our learners arrive at a crossroads in life. Some have struggled in mainstream settings, faced exclusion, or carry emotional and social challenges that block their progress. Our role is to help them reset the map—rediscovering the direction that leads to growth, purpose, and a renewed sense of possibility.
Our Approach
We provide a safe, nurturing, and structured environment where every young person is supported holistically; academically, emotionally, and socially. We help our learners see that change is not only possible, but that they have the power to lead it.
Connection before Correction
We focus on building trust first, creating a safe space where children feel valued and understood before guiding their growth.
Therapeutic intervention alongside academic support
Our therapies run hand-in-hand with education, helping youths heal emotionally while achieving academically.
Empowerment through trust, routine, and opportunity.
We create consistency and open doors to new possibilities, giving each child the tools to thrive and believe in themselves.

Who We Support
We work with children and young people who:
- Are at risk of exclusion or disengaged from school
- Struggle with emotional regulation or mental health
- Need additional support due to trauma, anxiety or behavioural needs
- Would benefit from a therapeutic and tailored educational approach
Whether they’re with us for a short placement or a longer-term transition, each young person is treated with respect, compassion, and high expectations.
The Alternative Provision offers a transformative and tailored service for 16–18 year olds who are not currently in school and need support finding their path. Through a unique blend of vocational exploration, hands-on skills training, and therapeutic guidance, young people are empowered to discover their direction, build emotional resilience, and develop the maturity and responsibility needed for life and work. With a nurturing environment and a focus on personal growth, The Alternative Provision helps each individual navigate toward a future filled with purpose and possibility.
Why Choose The Alternative Provision?
We are not just an education provider. We are:
- A safe place to reset
- A guide to better choices
- A path back to education and qualification
- A team that never gives up on a child
Our goal is not just to support behaviour, but to transform it. Not just to teach, but to empower.
